Ozonation clarification

First, we would like to thank Mr. Sunarto for his letter published in the local media. Further to Mr. Sunarto's letter, we have received several follow-up letters and inquiries with regard to AQUA's ozonation process. We would hereby like to take the opportunity to explain and clarify the issue to consumers.

We would like to emphasize the fact that Mr. Sunarto's claim stating that "the ozone used in AQUA is hazardous to consumers" is misleading.

The ozonation process is an advanced method of purification used by leading national and international bottled water producers.

Ozone is used to kill harmful microorganisms thus disinfecting the drinking water and making it safe for consumption. After six hours the ozone in AQUA products naturally disappears and turns into oxygen. This means that by the time AQUA products reach the consumer no traces of ozone remain.

AQUA, as part of Danone, the world's leading bottled water company, always prioritizes the health and safety of consumers and adheres to a strict food safety system as well as national and international quality standards like the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), World Health Organization (WHO) standards and International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) standards. We would also like to inform our customers that all AQUA products are periodically monitored by the Food and Drug Supervision (POM) and have been registered and received the market authorization license (MD).

We believe that as a former director general of POM Mr. Sunarto will accept our explanation and we herewith extend a warm invitation to Mr. Sunarto to visit AQUA's facilities in order to take a closer look at the production process

For further explanation about the ozonation process, consumers are encouraged to contact AQUA's Customer Service Center at the telephone number (021)4609166.
