Overseas travel reps visit city

YOGYAKARTA: With a mission to promote Yogyakarta to South Africa, envoys of South African Dikon Travel and Bluemoon Travel visited last week Santika Jogja Hotel on Jl. Sudirman for an inspection.

The hotel's public relations officer Erma Wheny H said officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied the delegates.

"They said they wanted to make sure that Yogyakarta was a safe place to visit," Wheny said.

Such a visit, according to Wheny, was important, especially as many foreign tourists often had completely wrong information about Yogyakarta and the country in general.

"They thought Yogyakarta was near conflict-torn areas and therefore not safe to visit," she said. --JP
