Over 90 new species found in Irian Jaya

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: A group of researchers have found 93 new species in the Wapoga and Sewa districts of Yapen Waropen regency, a team member said on Thursday.

Yance de Fretes told Antara the new species discovered during last month's joint research included reptiles, dragonflies, fish, ants, frogs and bugs. Most of the species were types of insect.

He said more species were expected to be found as more research had been arranged.
