Over 10,000 students require assistance

TANGERANG: Tangerang administration revealed on Wednesday that
there were a total of 10,292 students of poor families in the
regency who needed assistance, as promised by the central
government after the slashing of the fuel subsidy this year.

"They have received a total of Rp 1.44 billion in assistance
from the regional budget last year," Tangerang Education Agency
head Zainudin was quoted as saying by Antara.

He encouraged school headmasters to register all students
coming from poor families to ensure that they get additional
funding assistance. -- JP
