Outspoken justice changes career

JAKARTA (JP): Adi Andojo Sutjipto (left, picture above), a former whistle-blower and deputy chief justice, was installed as a dean at Trisakti University yesterday.

He plans to share his knowledge with his students.

Adi, who is a member of the Asian Crime Prevention Foundation's board of directors, said he saw his new profession in teaching as an "interesting challenge".

He said that his legal experience would contribute to his new role at Trisakti, one of the most prestigious private universities in the capital. His three-year term is due to end in 2000.

Chairman of Trisakti foundation, Trisulo (right), said that Adi's appointment was for educational, not political, purposes.

Trisulo said that Adi's position as dean of the university's law faculty was an asset, adding that his experience would allow law students to practice what they learned from Adi.

Adi resigned last year from the Supreme Court, which he allegedly claimed was tainted by bribery involving Rp 1.4 billion (US$560,000). (01)
