Outline of PM's platform:
o To realize the spirit of the people (semangat kerakyatan) to speed up the nation's freedom from poverty and dependence. The party thus rejects all forms of centralized political and economic power, which are the roots of instability and economic disparity that lead to disintegration and polarization and therefore threaten the unity and integrity of the unitary republic; o For this purpose the party promotes the people's economy first advocated by Mohammad Hatta in 1931, which would benefit farmers, fishery workers, small and medium businesses and workers; o It aims to balance globalization based on the free market principle, through the development of an economic system that benefits the public; o This will be achieved by, among other things, through the allocation of 70 percent of the state budget for the people instead of for routine costs; and enhancing workers' skills to enable them gain decent incomes; o The people's economy builds the nation's strengths through its rich and poor, its urban and rural communities, its intellectuals and laypeople, regardless of religion, ethnicity or race.
