Our attorney general

Who is the most famous person in this country? None other than
Mr. Attorney General. Let us think of a case that made our
attorney general special: The scanned phone conversation
purportedly between President B.J. Habibie and Andi Ghalib. The
case was considered settled before a thorough investigation into
the matter was conducted. This very same attorney general was
presented with a chicken.

Now another controversy about him has surfaced. The Indonesian
Corruption Watch (ICW) has found money transferred to our
Attorney General's private accounts and huge savings reaching Rp
13 billion. We do not know whether the issue is true or not, but
the case makes us ashamed as citizens of this country.

Then came the issue of the banning of three journalists from
covering the activities at the Attorney General's Office, which
is not in line with the policy of the information minister that
the flow of information to the public will not be hindered.

All these controversies happened during only one year in the
office.

I think it is important for the attorney general to clarify
the allegations and prove that he is really a clean official,
instead of spouting talk which makes people even more confused.
