Ostrich farm under construction

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: An ostrich breeding farm is being developed here with birds flown in from Zimbabwe, Antara reported yesterday.

The farm is one of several development projects in East Nusa Tenggara slated for inauguration by President Soeharto next month, the news agency said.

The ostrich farm is being developed adjacent to the Camplong forest in East Kupang, said the spokesman for the provincial administration, Mell Adoe.

The farm is being developed by a private company based in Jakarta. While 156 birds have been flown in, 10 died in quarantine shortly after arriving from Zimbabwe. (emb)
