Operation against alcoholic drink

JAKARTA (JP): North Jakarta public order officers launched an integrated operation against the sale of locally produced alcoholic drinks along Jl. Kramat Jaya, Jl. Yos Sudarso and Jl. Sulawesi yesterday.

Boy Firman, the head of the public order office, said that the operation was conducted jointly with local police and military and North Jakarta health office personnel.

He said that hundreds of jericans containing locally made "satanic drink" with a high level of alcohol, and 35 bottles of other alcoholic beverages were confiscated.

The team also arrested six prostitutes operating illegally at food and beverage stalls. They were immediately sent to a rehabilitation center in Kedoya, West Jakarta, he said. (hhr)
