One person dead in arson attack

JAKARTA (JP): One person was killed and another severely
injured when a complex of buildings belonging to Dulos Christian
humanitarian foundation in the eastern Jakarta subdistrict of
Cilangkap was burned by a mob on Tuesday night.

A police source at the scene said the arson attack took place
at 8:30 p.m. He refused to identify the group responsible for the
attack, merely saying "they are not local residents".

The victims were inside the building when the attack took
place, the source said.

Jakarta Police chief Maj. Gen. Noegroho Djajoesman arrived at
the scene shortly after the incident, the source said.

The complex, which is located near the Indonesian Military
Headquarters, comprised of an orphanage, a rehabilitation center
for drug addicts and a mental rehabilitation center. (ylt/amd)
