One more trekker found dead
PURWOKERTO, Central Java: One more missing trekker from Gadjah Mada University's Nature Lovers club was found dead on Wednesday, raising the number of fatalities to three.
Purbalingga Police chief. Comr. Sukamto Handoko confirmed the finding of the body of Dodo, saying that the body had yet to be evacuated from the mountain.
The other dead trekkers were Masruhi and Fauzan, whose bodies were found on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
On Tuesday 15 trekkers were found alive but in poor condition.
As of Wednesday a total of 26 students had been found alive and three were found dead.
Comr. Sukamto said one student, identified as Bregas, had yet to be found.
The three dead trekkers were from Yogyakarta's Gadjah Mada University, who -- with other climbers from Soedirman University in Purwokerto -- began to climb the 3,428-meter high Mt. Slamet on Feb. 3.
Rough weather had forced 11 of them to make their way off the mountain, while the rest, 18 trekkers, including Masruhi, Fauzan and Dodo, were left on the mountain. (45)
