One hurt in gang brawl

JAKARTA: A man identified as Ucok Saragih was injured in a brawl on Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto in Menteng, Central Jakarta, late on Wednesday.

Witnesses said that Ucok, who offered informal parking services on the street, was injured after members of a gang attacked Ucok and his friends.

"They came at about 11:30 p.m. on motorcycles and wearing black ... many of them carried swords," witnesses were quoted as saying by Detikcom.

Menteng Police chief Comr. Dahana said the police stopped the brawl after about an hour.

The police said the attackers were backed by 200 members of the Betawi Brotherhood Forum, led by Asbin Malikul Fatah.

The police are looking into the incident. -- JP
