Even Tommy Motolla can make a mistake!
The last time he displayed his talent-scouting knack was when he signed Columbian singer Shakira with Sony, and the result was not very disappointing; he did a good job with Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson years before.
So what in God's name was he thinking when he decided to groom teen flick star Lindsay Lohan to become a singer and later produce an album for her?
He even let her help write songs in her debut Speak. Sell the cake while it is hot, that is. But the Svengali rolled his dice with Lohan's current popularity and lost miserably.
Speak is an unspeakably disastrous album with no trace of good craftsmanship. The starlet sings the way she reenacts the shtick from all her movies -- think cuddly -- in between crisp guitars and pre-programmed disco beats.
Unless you are a devoted fan, don't bother to spend your money on this record, kids.
A final note to the record industry: one Ashlee Simpson is more than enough. -- M. Taufiqurrahman
