Bali is not only famed for its rich natural and cultural heritages but also has rapidly developing industries in garments, accessories and textiles.
Modern and large scale garment making industries took off in the l980s when the market began promoting the ready-made garments, which is now mostly geared for overseas buyers.
An international trade fair that specializes in promoting garment-related industries has been staged over the past two years with very encouraging responses from worldwide buyers. Bali is progressing toward establishing its status as one of International Fashion Capitals.
Indonesia's fashion and garment industries comprising unique fashion articles from textiles to accessories has been recognized as the industry that gives a significant financial contribution to the country's economy. Bali Fashion Week is an annual international event where industry players can have direct contacts with worldwide trend-setting buyers, while the buyers can directly view, make (on the spot) transactions and place orders with their potential partners while enjoying the beauty of Bali.

The contest is open for elementary school children. Contestants are required to tell his or her story within 10 minutes to be broadcast on Radio Genta. Registration is open until May 9. Winners of the contest will be both judged by the organizing committee and the radio listeners.

The event is expected to arouse the awareness of students and teachers on the importance of maintaining environmental balance.

The center, which was launched at the cultural park on April 28, was jointly developed by PT Marga Giri Kencana and the Korean-based Ockto Communication & Security Co. Ltd. It will provide business communities in Bali and those visiting Bali with advanced technological information.
The GWK Cultural Park is designed to become one of the most advanced cyber cities in Southeast Asia. Various business and cultural activities are now held at the cultural park, including discussion on Gender Issues in the tourism industry, traditional theater performances Arja, Drama Gong and music concerts. In June, President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled to attend the ceremony to mark the construction of the pedestal of the giant Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue which is intended as the Cultural Landmark of Bali.
