On suing banks

This is in response to S. Suradi's letter on July 18: On suing RI, BI and Exim Bank.

Usually, before commencement of informal court, both sides (the plaintiff and the defendant can confer to seek mutual understanding (about two months). I hope the government, the Central Bank and Exim Bank will use the time wisely to get in touch with Burchetta Brofman and Hanley (the attorneys for the plaintiffs: group of BA Ltd. and Gustaff Daniel Parengkuan).

However, if both sides remain committed, I think the show must go on and the minutes of the court sessions will be published widely, at least by U.S. news publication such as The New York Times, Washington Post etc., even TV networks and the Internet. This will, of course, draw even worse international remarks on Indonesia.

In this era of reform, the Indonesian government, BI and Exim Bank should be more broad-minded, particularly in solving this case.
