On linguist
I refer to the letter from Mr. Adrianus Hiyung Tjung published in The Jakarta Post on March 18, 2000. First of all, we would like to apologize to him because we did not find his name in our registration database. If he would contact us at 021-428-70136, we can provide him with information about the new version of Indonesian-English Linguist. It is our policy not to notify registered users of our products of updates to them.
We agree that the first version of Linguist had many shortcomings, however, we feel that the new version of Linguist 2.01 has been considerably improved from the one he bought. It has many more words, improved translations and an improved user interface. Future versions will continue to be improved.
As for customers who think it is all right to buy products from the pirates in Mangga Dua, we would like to remind them that if everyone bought pirated software, there would not be any legitimate software producers left in business to steal from.
Producing quality software requires a lot of investment. If the producer of the software cannot make a reasonable profit, then he can no longer improve the product to the point where the customers would want to own it.
