On French policy

I refer to Mr. St. John's letters (The Jakarta Post, July 11 and 27, 1995). Personally I do not want to comment on Mr. St. John's hysterical "broadsides."' fired against the actual French policy. It's too easy to shoot against somebody who is already suffering attacks from all sides.

What I cannot understand is why Mr. St. John, who has a mortal hatred of Napoleon, but a marked attraction for Basques' separatism (forgetting to take care of Northern Ireland's situation and problems), resumed a strange publication, which repeats the words of General De Gaulle and, no less than Andre Gide.

All of us know either the old or the recent history, therefore I suggest Mr. St. John not overdo it because somebody, becoming exasperated, could touch the right cord and start speaking of English deeds and misdeeds.
