On fortune

Referring to Mr. Djuana's letter Fortune by good luck (The Jakarta Post, June 18, 2000), as an indigenous person, I do not believe and have never heard about the Chinese saying.

Before we got married, my husband and I went out together for about two and a half years with love, passion, respect and trust for each other. We got married (we were in our twenties) by choice and we value our quality of marriage and family.

We are both intelligent. Even though we are very fortunate from working hard and honest living, we have never looked and will never look down on others.

To be successful, first you need to be intelligent, hardworking, honest and maybe lucky. I believe you have to appreciate your fortune more if you have earned it yourselves and not as a blood sucker. This way you can live a long and happy life. One thing I have to remind you of is that money is not everything. To be a good human being and citizen is also very important.
