On forest fires

I'm deeply troubled by the lack of effort by Indonesian authorities in controlling forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan. This is not to say that nothing is being done about the fires, but that not enough effort and resources are being extended to control and put out these fires that are choking its neighbors.

The Malaysian government has even offered help but is Indonesia too proud to take up the offer? These fires would have been under control if more attention had been paid to them much earlier. How much attention is actually paid to this hazardous problem by the media i.e. The Jakarta Post and other media? It is vital to let Indonesians realize the significance of this issue for themselves and their neighbors.

I'm quite sure that Indonesians do not want to be labeled as ignorant and inconsiderate.
