On editing
Referring to my letter to the editor Jan. 4, 1997, I am truly disappointed with the way my letter was edited.
The last paragraph in particular, which said, "Indonesian churches should become self-sufficient by getting support from their own members and congregations," was not my intended statement and misrepresents my sentiments completely.
I never intended to say Indonesian churches should become self-sufficient, as they have been for many decades.
My original unedited sentence read: "I do not need to tell how Indonesian churches make themselves become self-sufficient, being fully supported by their own members and congregations, as overseas donation (if any) could not be relied upon; but I believe Dr. Loekman Soetrisno, as prominent sociologist could release himself from such bias."
