On British universities

I completely agree with Fitri Sri Astuti (Choosing a good university, May 30) that it is vital to get all of the facts about a university and its courses before investing in overseas education.

Readers may be interested to know that the British government has a teaching quality assessment (TQA) for most courses at British universities. The advantage of this system over guides such as The Times Good University Guide is that it rates individual courses, rather than ranking the university as a whole.

The British Council in Indonesia provides this information, together with a database of almost 230,000 courses in the UK at our website educationuk.or.id, or you can access the TQA data directly at qaa.org.uk.
