Omni Batavia's first anniversary
JAKARTA (JP): Omni Batavia hotel on Jl. Kalibesar Barat, in West Jakarta, celebrated its first anniversary by offering free circumcisions for children from poor families and orphanages.
Mita Wullur, public relations manager of the hotel, said that as many as 70 children from nearby neighborhoods and from orphanages in Pluit subdistrict, North Jakarta, and Kwitang subdistrict, Central Jakarta, got free circumcisions
"It's difficult to find as many as 100 children from neighboring areas. Many families have moved to other parts of the capital," said Tadjudin Widodo, chief of the Roa Malaka subdistrict where the Omni Batavia hotel is located.
The circumcision was carried out by seven doctors from the School of Medicine of the University of Indonesia.
Mita also said that the four-star Omni Batavia, with 288 rooms, has an occupancy rate of 45 percent to 50 percent.
"Traffic jams are the biggest drawback to us in the management in trying to attract guests to the hotel," Mita said. (yns)
