Old woman strangled

JAKARTA (JP): A 77-year-old woman was found strangled in a
house in West Jakarta last week with a nylon rope around her neck
and a head injury.

A police sergeant at the West Jakarta Police precinct said Li
Amoy was found on the kitchen floor of the house on Jl. Surya
Permata, Surya Garden housing complex, in Kebun Jeruk, by her
servant, Inah.

He said Inah went to the market at 9 a.m and returned an hour
later. "Inah found the door open and saw her employer dead on the
kitchen floor," the officer said.

The kitchen was in a mess, causing police to speculate the
woman had tried to resist.

The motive for the murder is still unclear but no valuables
were missing, he said.

Amoy lived with her son, Johanes, and daughter-in-law,
Fransiska. (jun)
