Old Hotel Indonesia storehouse on fire

JAKARTA: A storehouse building close to Hotel Inna Wisata, Central Jakarta, which belongs to Hotel Indonesia, was damaged after it caught fire on midday on Saturday.

No one was hurt in the fire as the building was left vacant following the closure of the hotel for renovations.

"Fortunately, the building remained vacant and power and water installations had been disconnected," said a mechanic, Kiram.

The fire started at about 11:50 a.m. and was put out by the city fire department about an hour later. Witnesses believed it was caused by a spark from welding in a nearby workshop. The building would now be demolished, Hotel Indonesia management said.

The storehouse was on a list of Hotel Indonesia's assets that are to be auctioned. --Antara.
