Oki's dossiers submitted to court
JAKARTA (JP): Dossiers relating to a triple murder that occurred in 1991 in the United States were submitted to a court here yesterday.
The team of prosecutors, comprising J. Kamaru, M. Yamin, R. Widyo Pramono and M. Yusuf, presented them to head of the Central Jakarta district court, I.G.K. Sukarata.
"Within two weeks, hopefully sooner, we will set up a team of judges," Sukarata announced yesterday.
According to Sukarata, judges' seniority and experience are some of the qualifications considered in selections.
Harnoko Dewantoro, known as Oki, 32, is accused of killing his brother Eri Tri Harto Darmawan, 26, his female friend Gina Sutan Aswar, 28, and his Indian business colleague, Suresh Mischandani, 45, on separate occasions in Los Angeles in 1991 and 1992.
He was arrested in Central Jakarta in January 1995, was tried for and found guilt of passport forgery. Oki, who is now serving a two-year sentence at the Cipinang penitentiary in East Jakarta, will soon spend further time in court.
Prosecutor Kamaru said that around 122 pieces of evidence will be presented before the court including cases allegedly used to store the bodies and a box used to store a weapon allegedly used to shoot one of the victims.
The testimonies of 41 witnesses will be heard, Kamaru added, including 23 witnesses from the U.S.
The trial is expected to draw a great deal of attention from the public. (14)
