'Ojek' driver brings in alleged murderer

TANGERANG: An unidentified ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver turned over to the police late on Sunday a man who allegedly killed someone in the parking lot of the Tirta Mas swimming pool in the Modern Land housing estate in Cikokol, Tangerang.

The suspect, identified as Irwan Efendi Harahap, got in a fight with Wijiyanto, 21, a security guard at the swimming pool, who he accused of making a pass at his girlfriend, who works as a cleaner at the pool.

The suspect allegedly stabbed Wijiyanto to death.

The suspect acknowledged that, while holding a knife, he took an ojek and ordered the driver to get him out of the area immediately. The ojek driver took him to the main road and stopped a passing police car.

Tangerang Police detective chief Adj. Insp. Asep Adi Saputra said the suspect would be charged with violating Article 340 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder. The article carries a maximum punishment of death. --JP
