The war between Iran and the United States and Israel has caused prices of household appliances such as plates, clear glasses, spoons, and mop cloths to rise by more than 20%. Saidin, one of the traders, mentioned that the price of mop cloths, which were initially sold for Rp20,000, has now increased to Rp25,000. “Melamine plates have also risen by Rp6,000 per dozen, or from Rp66,000 to Rp72,000 per dozen,” he added to CNBC Indonesia. Monitoring on site, the price of plastic scoops has also increased, from Rp10,000 to Rp15,000 for 2 pieces. Increases have also occurred in household appliances made from stainless steel and aluminium raw materials. “Aluminium spoons have also risen from Rp66,000 to Rp72,000 per dozen,” said another trader to CNBC Indonesia. Meanwhile, this increase in the prices of furniture or household appliances is making traders’ profits even thinner, and they choose not to raise prices too far from the cost price so as not to burden customers.
