Officials sent to religious school

BOGOR: How to create good governance? According to Bogor mayor Diani Budiarto, the best way is by sending officials to an Islamic religious school.

He said on Sunday that he had sent 60 of his subordinates in a bid to improve the performance of the administration.

"They would undergo a three-day training course in clear- conscience management (manajemen qolbu) as part of an effort to change the image that officials as being corrupt, lazy, indisciplined and lacking in professionalism."

The chosen school is the Mina Cibeureum in Bogor Selatan district.

Municipal Training and Education Office director Rafinus Syukri said that the substance of the training course would help improve the religious knowledge of the officials working in the municipal administration. -- JP
