Officials say no to graffiti

No place is immune to graffiti in the regency of Bogor, including the administration's office in the Cibinong area.

A public eyesore, the graffiti covers all of the decorative flowerpots in front of the regental office, the entrance gate and the outer walls.

An official at the park agency, Dodi Sarjito, said he suspected that teenagers spray-painted the slogans at night to avoid being detected by officials.

"So it is difficult to prevent them from vandalizing our buildings.

"On top of that, it is almost impossible for us to clean it as much of the graffiti is written on ceramic. The graffiti paint and ink are already deeply absorbed into the surfaces," Dodi said.

On Thursday, staff at the park agency worked hard to clean the entrance gate to the compound.

"We have to use a lot of chemical solution to clean the graffiti, but it can't clean the walls completely," Dodi said. --(JP/Theresia Sufa)
