Official to release names

BOGOR (JP): Bogor secretary Itoc Tochija promised on Thursday to disclose names of officials who backed gambling activities in a den on Jl. Siliwangi 23D which was raided by a group of angry students earlier this month.

"If the names have been released by Monday, I'll resign," Itoc said after meeting a group of students.

Some 50 students staged a protest at City Hall, demanding the city administration to take firm action against mushrooming gambling in the city. They were from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), Ibnu Chaldun University, Djuanda University and Bogor Pharmaceutical School.

Itoc, however, rejected the group's demand to dismiss the officials involved in the gambling den activities.

"They have wives and children to feed. If they lose their jobs, their families will suffer," he said. (24/edt)
