Official summoned over health funds

BOGOR: The Bogor Council budgetary affairs commission summoned on Tuesday Bogor Health Agency head Djono Kardjoeki to explain the use of Rp 1.9 billion in provincial assistance funds for helping pregnant women and infants.

Council chairman Iyus Djuher said that Djono was summoned to explain why his office had not informed families in the city of the funds that needy mothers could avail of.

"We asked him to disseminate information about the funds at the neighborhood level. We observe that many people are still not aware of the funds while maternal deaths and the infant mortality rate is high in Bogor," said Iyus.

He added that if the agency had no funds, they could ask for money from the council.

Meanwhile, Djono said that the Rp 1.9 billion fund was safe in an agency account in Bank Jabar, and had not been disbursed at all as no families had claimed their health care.

"The funds have not been disbursed because there is a total of Rp 3.1 billion in other funds available for all community health centers in Bogor from the central government," he said.
