Official questioned over alleged graft
The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
Head of the city population and civil registration agency Silviana Murni was questioned by prosecutors Thursday over Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) findings of alleged corruption in her office.
Silviana confirmed that she was questioned at the Jakarta prosecutor's office but only as a witness in the case.
She refused to comment on the results of the investigation.
Prosecutors questioned her over nine BPK findings of alleged irregularities in her office worth Rp 9.5 billion, taken from the 2001 and 2002 city administration budgets.
The projects audited by the BPK were worth Rp 34.56 billion.
The findings in Silviana's office were among 138 findings of irregularities worth a total of Rp 820 billion within institutions under the control of the city administration. They were reported by the BPK to House of Representatives Commission II for legal and home affairs in February.
One of the controversial projects in Silviana's office was the project of the Population and Civil Registration Computerization System worth Rp 13.3 billion, which was suspected to have caused the city losses of Rp 1.12 billion.
