Jakarta Police internal affairs chief Sr. Comr. Anwaruddin was questioned on Tuesday by the internal affairs division of the National Police Headquarters for releasing a police officer arrested for taking shabu shabu (crystal mathampetamine).
Anwaruddin, however, denied that he had been questioned for releasing the police officer identified as Adj. Comr. Alidjoni, who was arrested last week for taking drugs.
"I am at the National Police Headquarters now so I can't talk much," he said through his cellular phone.
A credible source at the National Police Headquarters said that internal affairs summoned Anwaruddin to ask why he did not detain Alidjoni, a member of city police's antiterrorism squad.
"Several media enterprises have reported that the police arrested Alidjoni when he was having a drug party. So, internal affairs would like to know why he (Anwaruddin) let Alidjoni go," he told The Jakarta Post.
Following tipoffs provided by local residents, the Central Jakarta Police drug squad raided a house on Jl. Madu, Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta last Thursday and arrested Alidjoni and his friends identified as Hendrik and Diana.
Police officers also found two grams of shabu shabu in the house.
However, police released Alidjoni when they learned that he was a police officer.
Alidjoni had reportedly admitted that he was taking drugs.
Anwaruddin also said that the result of the urine test on Alidjoni and the other suspects was positive.
