Officer grilled over GAM flag
JAKARTA: A policeman was questioned on Friday over a
separatist Free Aceh Movement (GAM) flag he had hanging in his
living room.
Adj. Brig. Tarmuji, who works as an administrative officer for
the National Police's Mobile Brigade division in Kelapa Dua, was
questioned by the East Jakarta Police and released later in the
day.
"He has been released as police found no wrongdoing. There is
no indication that he is a supporter of the group," city police
spokesman Sr. Comr. Prasetyo said.
Tarmuji said he took the flag from a GAM member following a
shoot-out he was part of during his tour of duty in Aceh. --JP.
