Officer caught selling drugs: Police
MEDAN, North Sumatra: A police officer was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after he was reportedly spotted selling drugs with 10 other suspects at the Indonesian Military (TNI) complex in Medan Sunggal subdistrict in Medan.
The officer, First Brig. Zainal Abidin, was handed over to North Sumatra Police for further questioning.
The joint intelligence team, led by Maj. Hendrawan, seized 7.5 kilograms of heroin, 18.2 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal metamphetamine), 135 ecstasy pills, four packages of putaw (low- grade heroin), 48 needles, two scales and Rp 1 million (US$122) in cash.
North Sumatra Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Amrin Karim said the police would not protect an officer who was accused of selling drugs. -- JP
