Off-roader Justinus set for U.S. event

JAKARTA: Jakarta's Justinus Sjahlim has been named to represent Indonesia in the 39th Jeep Off-road Safari in Moab, Utah, from March 21-27.

"It isn't a competitive event among the participants but a field where each of the participants is challenged to show their skills in overcoming the obstacles," Justinus, 54, said during a press conference here on Monday.

The event is expected to draw 5,000 off-roaders, he added, including seven California-based Indonesians.

The president of the Indonesia Off-road Federation, Djoko Pramono, hoped that participating Indonesian drivers would be able to transfer knowledge gained from the experience to develop the sport at home. --JP
