Oesman to lead regional reps

JAKARTA: As expected, Oesman Sapta was elected the chairman of
the regional representatives faction at the People's Consultative
Assembly for the 2002/2004 period on Friday.

Oesman, who represents West Kalimantan but lives in Jakarta,
won 34 votes in a secret ballot at the legislature in Senayan,
Central Jakarta. Nusa Tundan finished second, with 19 votes, for
the post of secretary.

The faction, which groups 165 legislators representing
provinces across the country, was reinstated during the
Assembly's Annual Session last November after a year of wait. --
