Nusantara Challenge offroad goes to Bali

Registration is open for the Nusantara Challenge, which is the third off-road event to be staged by the Cheetah Off-Road Club.

The event, which is being sponsored by the Office of the State Minister of Tourism and Culture and the Indonesian Off-Road Federation, begins on Dec. 14 in Surabaya, from where participants travel to Mount Bromo by tarmac road via Pasuruan and Tosari.

The prologue, a 3 Special Stage competition, and campsite will be at Mt. Bromo.

From Mt. Bromo, participants proceed to Klakah on a dirt road, on which wet and muddy conditions are expected.

From there participants will drive to Banyuwangi through forested, muddy terrain. From Banyuwangi, the vehicles board a ferry to cross the strait to Gilimanuk, Bali.

Competitors will travel from Gilimanuk to Kintamani via Negara, Pulukan and Bedugul.

A Balinese dance performance and award presentation will be held at the closing ceremony on Dec. 21 at the Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Sanur.

Classes of vehicles for the event are: up to 2000 cc; 2000 cc to 3000 cc gasoline; 2000 cc to 3000 cc diesel; 3000 cc to 5000 cc; and unlimited division.
