Nurses to be sent to Malaysia
BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The provincial administration is exploring the possibility of sending Indonesian nurses to Malaysia, the head of the provincial health office, Adnan Mahmud, said yesterday.
"As far as we know, Malaysia's nurses still come from other countries and the demand tends to increase every year," Mahmud was quoted by Antara as saying.
He said his office is taking advantage of the opportunity to give Indonesian nurses work experience abroad.
The report came on the heels of another Antara dispatch that the Malaysian government will, in the near future, deport 282 Acehnese illegal workers.
This was announced Wednesday by Aceh Governor Syamsuddin Mahmud.
They would be among a larger group of Indonesian workers in Malaysia who will be repatriated by the Malaysian government, the governor said. (swe)
