Nurse found dead in boarding house

TANGERANG (JP): An eighteen-year-old nurse was found hanged in the bedroom of her boarding house in Harapan Kita housing complex in Curug here on Tuesday evening.

The body of Dwi Lestari, who worked at Siloam Gleneagles Hospital in Lippo Karawaci, was discovered by the owner of the house, Mrs. Suripto, when she arrived home from Jakarta.

"I called her repeatedly, but she did not answer. I was worried, so I looked into her bedroom and saw her hanging from a door frame," she said.

Suripto's hysterical screams attracted her neighbors to the scene. Some then went to inform the local police at the nearby Curug police station.

A police officer who helped to remove Dwi's body said it was too early to tell if the woman had been murdered or had committed suicide.

However, the victim lacked many of the injuries which would be expected in a suicide of this nature, the officer, Supriana, said.

Curug Police chief Capt. Harun Idrus said the case was still being investigated. "We will summon the owner of the house for questioning," he added. (ivy/41)
