NU launches new magazine

SEMARANG, Central Java: The central Java branch of the
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Moslem organization launched a new magazine
here Saturday titled Suara Umat.

"With the presence of the magazine, NU members can follow NU's
policy and development. Besides that, members can also channel
their aspirations through the magazine," chairman of the local NU
branch, Achmad, told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.

Achmad said 5,000 copies of the magazine will initially be
printed.

Chairman of Central Java's Council of Indonesian Ulemas (MUI)
Sahal Mahfud and a renowned Moslem figure Mustofa Bisri are also
involved in the magazine's supervisory council.

Achmad promised that the magazine will be managed as
professional as possible. (har/10)
