Now Showing: Tom Raider

Tomb Raider (Action/Adventure, 100 minutes). Starring Angelina Jolie, Noah Taylor, Iain Glen, Jon Voight. Directed by Simon West.

Lady Lara Croft (Jolie), a rich adventurer/photojournalist, is residing peacefully in her mansion in Britain when she finds a mysterious key to two mystical halves of The Triangle of Light.

If the halves are united, the holder will have the power to control time. Whoever holds the united halves can even change the past if they so desire.

But the halves can only be reunited once every 5,000 years, when a planetary alignment occurs. The time is near.

Meanwhile, a group called the Illuminati have hired a man named Manfred Powell (Iain Glen) to locate the separated halves of The Triangle of Light.

Tomb Raider is not the film to prove that a movie based on a video game can be a delightful treat. It lacks real thrills and excitement.

However, Jolie is perfect in the leading role and there are some good action sequences. The film is not satisfying, but neither is it a total disaster.**1/2
