Now Showing: Heartbreakers

Heartbreakers (Comedy/Romance, 123 minutes). Starring Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ray Liotta, Jason Lee, Anne Bancroft, Gene Hackman.

Maxine (Weaver) and her gorgeous daughter Page (Hewitt) make a great team as con artists.

Maxine marries a rich man, after signing a prenuptial agreement which guarantees her a big payoff if she catches him cheating on her. Then Page shows up and seduces the man, and her mother cashes a big check that is supposed to be for their future.

The mother-daughter team have proven to be very successful, though their money never seems to last. All that changes when Page meets a bar owner named Jack (Lee). She is supposed to con him but ends up falling in love instead.

Meanwhile, Maxine is trying to marry an old, chain-smoking millionaire (Hackman), but is not having much luck for once.

The strong cast is wasted in this comedy, which starts out promising but gets sillier and sillier until finally self- destructing. ** (out of four ****)
