North Jakarta to have industry centers

JAKARTA (JP): The North Jakarta mayoralty office has announced plans to set up industry centers for fishery, furniture and dried salted fish in the area.

Spokesman for the administration Sudarso said on Monday the plan and the locations for the sites were yet to be finalized.

"It's still being discussed," he said.

He said the centers would aim to provide better and healthier one-stop trading places for buyers and local small-scale businessmen, who currently run their businesses from different locations.

Sudarso said the administration expected the centralization plans to boost traders' incomes.

It is projected that foreign buyers would be drawn to the furniture center to explore a greater range of options. (03)
