The Police submitted on Monday the case files of terror suspect
Munfiantun alias Fitri to the East Java Prosecutor's Office, and
she is set for trial at the Bangil District Court in Pasuruan,
East Java.
Munfiantun, 28, is the second wife of key terror suspect
Noordin Mohd. Top -- still at large -- and she faces a charge of
deliberately harboring terrorists and forging terror-related
documents.
East Java High Prosecutor office spokesman Muljono said that a
team of prosecutors -- which includes himself, Sumarji, Erna
Normawati and Muhajir -- were currently working on the
indictment.
Munfiantun has revealed recently that she met Noordin for the
first time early last year in Surabaya, while he was on the run.
She said that Noordin had been honest with her about his
situation and she told him she did not mind.
According to the police, the two got married on June 22, 2004
with Noordin using the alias, Abdul Rasyid. They then moved to a
house belonging to Candra, another terrorist suspect, for several
days.
Then, they moved to a house belonging to another terrorist
suspect Hasan in Malang. After several days, Noordin roamed
around and left his wife behind.
Munfiantun later went to Miftahul Huda Islamic boarding school
in Subang, West Java, and was arrested on Sept. 23.
Noordin and his cohort Dr. Azahari, both Malaysian nationals,
are wanted by the police for allegedly masterminding and carrying
out terrorist acts across the country over the past few years,
including the bombings in Bali in 2002 and the J.W. Marriott
hotel a year later.
The two reportedly are expert bombmakers and recruiters of
would-be suicide bombers.
