JAKARTA - A member of the DPR’s Commission XI from the Golkar faction, Erik Hermawan, has highlighted the government’s policy on adjusting the prices of non-subsidised fuels, which takes effect on 4 May 2026.

Erik believes that this policy must be addressed with care, taking into account national economic stability and the protection of public purchasing power.

The prices of non-subsidised fuels such as Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) have risen from Rp 19,400 to Rp 19,900 per litre, Dexlite from Rp 23,600 to Rp 26,000 per litre, and Pertamina Dex from Rp 23,900 to Rp 27,900 per litre.

Meanwhile, the non-subsidised fuel Pertamax remains at Rp 12,300 per litre, while subsidised fuels have not increased, with Pertalite at Rp 10,000 per litre and Solar at Rp 6,800 per litre.

“This demonstrates the government’s efforts to protect vulnerable groups in society,” Erik stated in his comments on Monday (4/5/2026).

He also highlighted the potential for increased logistics and transportation costs, particularly due to the sharp rise in non-subsidised diesel fuel prices, which could trigger inflationary pressures and affect the prices of essential goods.

“As a working partner of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Commission XI of the DPR RI urges the government to strengthen adaptive and responsive fiscal policies,” he explained.

In this way, Erik said, the public can understand the factors influencing the rise in non-subsidised fuel prices.

Furthermore, Erik emphasised the importance of accelerating the energy transition as a long-term solution.

“Energy policy evaluations must be conducted continuously and data-based to maintain national economic resilience while improving public welfare,” Erik added.
