Nokia opens new outlet

YOGYAKARTA (JP): Finnish cellular telephone manufacturer Nokia opened a retail outlet here on Thursday, in a bid to get a larger slice of the expanding cellular phone market in the city.

Alexander Lambeek, general manager of Nokia Mobile Phones Indonesia, said the opening of the new outlet was part of the company's strategy to bring its cellular products closer to users.

"The target is to make Nokia the preferred brand for customers, as it is them who make the choice of which brand they will chooses themselves," Lambeek said at the opening of the outlet.

The new Nokia Professional Center (NPC) outlet, located on Jl. Diponogoro 60, is the 11th outlet opened by Nokia since November 1997.

The other 10 outlets are located in Jakarta, Surabaya, Kuta (Bali), Bandung, Medan and Semarang.

The new NPC, Lambeek said, is the fifth outlet opened in cooperation with PT Bimasakti Usindo Persada, one of its distributors. (swa)
