Nokia, Bridge sign deal

JAKARTA (JP): Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced on Saturday a partnership agreement with Bridge Information Systems to provide BridgeConnect, a financial information service for mobile phone users.

The vice president for Asia Pacific at Nokia Mobile Phones, Nigel Litchfield, said BridgeConnect, which initially is targeting the Asia Pacific market, would enable Nokia mobile phone users to access real-time financial information, including stock quotes, market movers, local and foreign currencies, news headlines and stock indices, while on the move.

"We believe that value added services such as BridgeConnect respond to the increasing demand among mobile phone users to access critical business information while on the move. More and more, today's consumers are using mobile phones for data as well as voice communications," he said.

Litchfield said BridgeConnect delivered the most recent information from around the world using the Wireless Application Protocol codeveloped by Nokia. (gis)
