No spell check?

I refer to the news article titled Three Russians dead in seperate incidents in the Around the World column on Oct. 23 in this newspaper. The spelling of "seperate" should of course be "separate." This is a common misspelling even among native speakers of English, but surprising in a newspaper where text is presumably spell-checked before publication.
