No similar party logos for elections
JAKARTA: The ministry of justice and human rights plans to implement harsher regulations on political parties using similar logo designs during next year's general election.
"There are more than ten parties that have similar logo designs. We are afraid that it could create confusion among voters," said Wicipto Setiadi, head of party registration for general elections said on Thursday.
He added that the ministry had also completed the draft ruling in which parties were obliged to stick with their current logos.
Wicipto said under the new regulations, the ministry would give first choice to parties that had already contested in the 1999 election and wished to keep their logos.
"The new ones would be asked to change logos, otherwise they will be disqualified," he said.--JP
